In the office yesterday, we were talking about this Montana Fishburne story and whether her father, actor Laurence Fishburne, had given up his rights to step into this Adult Videos situation because he allegedly decided years ago to not be an active parent in her life.

What about the fact that Montana is 19-years-old? Since she’s over 18, does that also mean that she has the right to do what she pleases without a parent stepping in?

Is that the way it works?

In another conversation yesterday, a working-mom friend of mine said she still gets stressed out when she has to go out of town for work and leave her 17-year-old son. Is he eating properly? Did he have a vegetable with dinner? Is he going to be out at all hours? Even though her son assured her that he was OK, momma still worried about her “baby.”

So, Madames, I ask you: When do you stop being a parent? I say never, really.
