Police Taser Woman for Cutting McDonald’s Drive-Thru Line

February 6, 2012  |

A “defiant” North Carolina woman was recently tasered in front of her 3-year-old daughter for refusing to leave a McDonald’s drive-thru line.

Evangeline Lucca, 37, reportedly cut the line and was refused service by McDonald’s employees who told her she had to wait in line like everyone else. Police arrived on the scene after the woman held up the drive-thru line for 20 minutes, refusing to leave unless she was served. Anthony Rich, a customer who was in the parking lot at the time, told the Fay Observer:

“Two or three officers entered the car with her and started trying to forcibly drag her out of the car, and that’s when you could hear the clicking sound of the taser one time. They pulled on her a couple of times, and then they tased her again, and when they tased her the second time, she just flopped out of the car like a fish.”

Debbie Tanna, a public information officer for the Cumberland County Sherriff’s Office, said that Evangeline “would not get off McDonalds property,” and was “threatening the deputies,” when they arrived. According to her, the woman was “drive tased in her side,” meaning officers didn’t deploy the prongs from the taser, they just gave her an electric shock.

Evangeline was charged with second-degree trespassing for the hold-up, and is reportedly in custody until she pays her bond. Her daughter was unfortunately taken into protective custody.

Do you think Evangeline Lucca should have been tasered in this situation? How do you feel about police using tasers overall?

I hate misleading headlines like this. She wasn’t tasted for cutting in line. She was tasered for refusing to leave and not obeying commands from a police officer. She deserved what she got. She was rude obnoxious and obviously full of self importance.

She felt the sting lol!!!! It’s funny how they said she flop out of the car like a fish lol!!!!!

this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard in a while. Their food is disgusting! Why do all that for garbage. I hope she’s that dedicated when it comes to her child’s education

  • DeepThinker

Wow! The HFC, and other “additves” is really crack addictive and makes people act irrational. I don’t feel sorry for the woman being physically removed. I feel bad for the child having to witness her mother behave this way and I hope she is not traumatized by what she witnessed.
Is their there a picture of said lunatic?

ha there’s your average american for ya

There is something fishy about this story…how do you jump a drive thru line? I mean u place an order then proceed to the next window, unless the person in front of her is asleep and not paying attenton then you can jump the line, something doesnt sound right.

and then remember most of those drive thru have medians so did she ride the median and just went up to the window to place her order?

    something doesnt sound right…IJS

    • Shanghai

Most drive thru I encounter dont have medians.  Another article stated she went directly to the window to place her order, bypassing the speaker/microphone.  It’s really not fishy.  It is possible to jump the line at a drive thru

Lol! I’ve been sitting here asking myself the same question.  You’re in a car, in a single file line…how the #cuss do you “cut” in front of another car?!  Now I know some McDonald’s have that dual drive through thing but even that eventually leads to one singular line.  I’m guessing this lady just drove around everybody in line, found a break in the chain and got in where she fit in.

Either way, no excuses.  She was wrong, she acted like an a*s, and got what she deserved for trespassing.  I just hope her daughter isn’t too traumatized.

  • If I had a taser back in school for every time someone cut me in line for lunch, I’d be well known by now. I’d use it on anyone who cut me, but that’s still a little harsh. However, this woman wasn’t tased because she cut the line, she was tased for being disobedient to police officers and was being a nuisance to the public. Male or Female, White, Black, Purple, Yellow, I dont care who you are, if you hold up everyone even after you cut everyone in line, you deserve to be tased at the least.

  • This was a horrible situation for all parties involved!  However, I feel the woman was completely wrong and put her child’s safety at risk for a really stupid reason… And this statement comes from someone who has been physically assaulted by a police officer in the past.  I understand anyone who is angry at the police yet, it sounds like they tried talking first so she brought all that bull on herself and her daughter for WHAT?… A ‘Happy’ Meal?  Now she and her daughter are going to feel traumatized for a long time.  She should feel ashamed.

  • Teflon Mom

Yeah, gone head and taze the big dummy.  Cutting in line, acting a fool in front of your kids, holding up folks Mcnuggets for 20 dam minutes…

better a taser than a gun.

  • Charla

Why not? She was repeatedly told to move her car by the McDonald’s staff and the police. What were they supposed to do to get her out of the car at that point?? Give me a break. So tired of people with disgusting attitudes thinking the world owes them something. And guess what? I’ve never been tased because I listen to the directions that police give me!!

    • Ch

I also read that her daughter was in the car.  So she chose to behavior this way in front of her child.  Let’s pretend she was in the right, that she didnt cut the line, at the end of the day when a  police officer tells you to move, you move…

  • JerryCee

She wasn’t tased for “cutting”  as your headline suggests.
She had a choice of getting back in line and waiting like the rest of us or simply leaving.
She escalated it to a trespassing offense.
According to other reports this same women was a habitual line cutter at this McDonalds.
The employees finally got fed up with the rude pig.
