Love Lessons:The Misadventures of the Awkward Black Girl

We all fell in love with The Misadventures Awkward Black Girl web series and are truly excited for its success. Many of us can relate to J’s natural awkwardness and have been in similar situations. The series has also showed us how us awkwards deal with the tricky topic of romance.

Here are some love lessons we learned from J and the crew:

    I adore this show. It is literally my favorite show right now. Being an awkward Black woman myself, I feel like this show was sort of like a synopsis of my own life (plus or minus a few details lol). I was devastated when the season ended, but it just makes me excited for the new season that much more. Also, Issa Rae is a huge inspiration to me. I, myself, am a Film major, and it’s refreshing to see a young Black woman doing her own show(s). I hope to make things happen like she’s doing when I graduate. 

    Anyway, back to the show: I’m really glad J chose White Jay (#teamWhiteJay!). I’ve had a crush that I ended up with and it didn’t work out because we weren’t really meant to be together. In the show, though J really liked Fred and he liked her, they weren’t meant to be together. But J was always meant to be with White Jay. They fit together nicely (and awkwardly! lol). I’m single now, but I hope that I find a guy that fits me, gets me, and accepts/likes/loves me for me. In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying my singledom! lol

      I’m glad J chose White Jay in the end.  It was great to see J finally make the decision to keep Fred firmly in the “friend zone.”  Most women wonder what life would be like with their crush, but there was something about Fred that just wasn’t on point (namely, his timing).  Something tells me he’ll find his way back to thirsty Nina.
