7 Ways to Keep Your Single Strand Knots to a Minimum

January 19th, 2012 - By Dolapo Roberts

Wear your hair stretched

By stretched, I don’t mean blowing it out or flat ironing. There are styles (twist out, plaits, etc) you can wear that will prevent your hair from shrinking. A shrunken head of hair is the breeding ground for coily hair to intertwine and knot up. See our article on tips to prevent natural hair shrinkage.

Good point about the wash n go! My hair is mid-back and wash n go’s take about as much effort as blow out now ..smh

Great suggestions…I notice that lately I been having a lot of knots in my hair and want to scream. But I guess I’ll manage with the detangler sprays I bought.

Ps….thanks for letting me know about washing my hair while its in braids….new info :-)

Ha ha! I tend to play with the natural coils of my hair, especially just before relaxing. I told a friend of mine that I actually like the way how my natural hair feels when its growing out – she thinks I have issues. She likes her hair to lay straight so she loves that creamy crack!

Very good tips. (I’ll try to keep my hands out of my hair.)

    Thanks.
