Sanaa Lathan is Pantene Pro-V’s Newest Spokesmodel

January 18th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian

Sanaa Lathan has a gorgeous head of hair and Pantene Pro-V has taken notice by officially naming her the new spokesperson for their Nature Fusion collection.

The 40-year-old actress says the product line has been crucial to helping her maintain her healthy mane throughout all the wear and tear of acting, photo shoots, and red carpet events:

“It is important to me that I treat my hair with products that have naturally-derived ingredients, like Cassia in the Nature Fusion Moisture Balance Collection, which has made my hair so soft and strong,” she says.

“Throughout my life, Pantene has been one of the few hair care brands that effectively address the specific needs of my hair texture. My hair is prone to dryness and my career does not help the situation! All of the styling and heat on set leaves my hair dull, lifeless and damaged. I need a shampoo and conditioner that nourishes my hair and I want to use more natural products. That is why I love Nature Fusion Moisture Balance shampoo and conditioner. It is great that, as a black woman, I can look to a brand like Pantene to provide my hair with the nourishment it needs.”

It’s great to see such a lovely new face for Pantene’s product line and I can’t wait to see the ads when they’re released. Check out TheYBF.com for behind-the-scenes footage of the photo shoot.

Do you use Pantene Pro-V’s products on your hair? Do you think Sanaa Lathan is a good choice to represent the brand?

I say that’s perfectly fine as long as we’re talking about HER hair, as opposed to a weave because it’s hard for me to take someone’s endorsement for a hair product seriously when they’re rocking weaves and wigs (to protect their hair, for diverse looks, etc.) because what we’re seeing in photos is not the true picture of their hair. At the end of the day, however, each woman’s hair is different – what works for me, won’t necessarily work for you and vice versa. Black women have always had to go through the trial and errorPantene has had a line for relaxed and natural hair for some time and I know some people who are very happy with it. If you take care of your hair (be that by going to a KNOWLEDGEABLE stylist regularly or by doing it yourself), it will grow. Period.

I can’t knock her hustle, and it’s always refreshing to see more women of color in beauty ads…but Sanaa is not like me. Unlike me, Sanaa has money to pay a stylist to regularly maintain her locks. And I’m sure she pays a pretty penny to make sure that stylist is at her beck and call. And I would even go as far as to say that stylist is NOT using pantene pro-V on her client’s hair. But ok, Sanaa, do you.
