Any honest married couple will tell you there are good days and there are bad days and it seems like Nick and Mariah are having some good ones, ya’ll. After a questionable interview with Barbara Walters, folks were wondering if this pair was going to make it. But over the weekend, at the BET Honors, the couple seemed to be sincerely grateful for one another.
Nick Cannon took the stage with his son in his arms, just weeks after being hospitalized for mild kidney failure, to present an award to his wife, Mariah Carey.
“When times are hard, you guys don’t see her at 3 o’clock in the morning, getting up in the middle of the night, fixing me soup when my kidneys ain’t acting right. Mariah Carey does that.”
““It is truly, truly a blessing to be here tonight, and I am humbled and in awe of everyone’s presence, but mostly my hero right there,” Cannon said to his wife seated in the front row.
“What most people don’t get the opportunity to experience is the true woman; the virtuous person who is my angel.”
When Mariah took the stage, with tears in her eyes, here’s what she had to say about her husband.
“To my incredible husband who [has been] out of the hospital two days — look at him all strong and healthy and big and too buff for the tux — it’s incredible.”
Sure, this could have been an opportunity to utilize the press on this one, but being the optimist I am, I’m inclined to believe this is the real deal. Naturally Nick and Mariah’s marriage is going to have struggles but I wish them the best.
