Who Shined? The Fashionable Sistahs of The 2012 Golden Globe Awards

January 16th, 2012 - By MN Editor

Did you get to catch the Golden Globe Awards last night? If you didn’t, you missed out on great and fun fashion. Yes, we know the main issue at hand is the awards but you know the designer gowns and dresses are a big part of the festivities. Check out what the few sistahs in attendance were rocking at the big Awards show.

Octavia Spencer didn’t dazzle in her first turn at the Golden Globe Awards but she did rock it and stay true to her own style. Her gown is by Tadashi Sjohi and her peeptoe heels were by Christian Louboutin. Congrats to Spencer for taking home the award for best supporting actress for her role in The Help.

Octavia’s dress was age appropriate and looked wonderful on her. Viola’s dress fit her perfectly but didn’t have much wow factor. Loved Mary’s Michael Kors dress and Paula Patton tries too hard for attention – her Big Bird yellow gown confirms that – not a fan of hers.

I am a huge fan of Paula Patton but I have to agree with you as far as her trying too hard for attention.  Did you see her jump up every time someone won an award?  I understand the excitement but it was embarrassing. I was watching the awards with my grandma & she said “I didn’t know they allowed fans to sit at the tables” (not knowing that Paula Patton is an actress)

I saw her before the show on a red carpet program (on the E channel) and she looked as if she had been drinking or something. I saw on another website that there was talk about her odd behavior last night and that she might be back on drugs, apparently she had a drug problem in the past.

That makes sense because it was VERY odd

HUH!?!? So you think the fatties and goofballs looked good, but the only bonafide hot chick (Paula Patton) looked bad!?!?  You can’t be serious!!

      • greygoose125

My comment was in reference to Paula Patton’s dress as well as the other ladies mentioned – however, since you would refer to someone you find attractive as a “hot chick” and mature women as “fatties and goofballs” says more about you than it ever would about them.

        Have a good evening.

Mary looked great int hat Kors!  Viola needed more color, she played it a tad bit safe, but nonetheless, she still looked lovely.  Overall, everyone looked great, although I wish SNL alum Randolph picked a dress with more color and pizzazz.

Octavia’s gown was well suited to her, not overstated, but just perfect.

Amber’s red gown was the EXACT color of the carpet.  She looks gorgeous at the top then disappeared at the bottom.

I wish Viola would do more sunset, warm colors that pop on her beautiful complexion.  The canary yellows and metallics turn her skin grayish and so do the greens and blues, and this burgundy is underwhelming.  She tends towards the cool color spectrum, but warm looks fab on her.  Red, orange with golden undertones.  Be bold with color, Viola!
