Family and friends of former Memphis Grizzlies player Lorenzen Wright are in mourning today as the player’s body was found in the woods in Memphis. Wright had been missing for ten days when police called his father, former professional basketball player Herb Wright with the news that they had found his body.

Wright was scheduled to drive back to Atlanta with his children before he went missing. Many are suspicious as to what occurred on the morning of July 19 as the 34-year-old star was last seen leaving his ex-wife’s house at 2 a.m.

Before he was drafted from the University of Memphis in the 1996 NBA draft, he was chosen to play for the LA Clippers and then built a long-standing career with the Atlanta Hawks.  He was cleared to be picked up by any NBA team last season, but wasn’t.  Before his death he had serious financial problems; his 1.3 million dollar homes in Tennessee and Atlanta were seized by the government.

Police have no reason to suspect that financial reasons played a role in his case. Wright leaves behind six children.
