Keri Hilson Says No Thanks to Dating Celebrity Men

December 28th, 2011 - By Brande Victorian

Keri Hilson’s “No Boys Allowed” stance doesn’t just mean she wants a man of an appropriate age and mind. She recently told Eurweb that there are a whole lot of men who fall into that category and for the ones who do, she wants no part of it.

Here’s what she had to say:

“What I meant by that was honestly, I put a lot in that category – rappers, sports players, ball players and things like that. I would never say “never,” but I want something real. I want real love. I don’t want this red carpet Hollywood love. I feel like they’re easily penetrated, and that’s something that I don’t want. I don’t want publicity. I want love.”

She added that she knows some famous couples can make it work but the way some men have approached her made her feel like their relationship would just be a publicity stunt or a “good look” and that’s not appealing to her. Come to think about it, I don’t recall ever seeing her name in any headlines concerning celebrity dating rumors. Sounds like she’s a woman about her business when it comes to music and men.

What do you think about her no-celebrity rule? Could you see yourself with a famous man?

have we not learned anything from Love & Hip-Hop, Basketball Wives, Football Wives, Baseball Wives?? i agree with her. plus you have to deal with all those “groupies” and slores that come with dating a celebrity man…who wants that?? not me NEXT

You do because you took the time to reply.

Certainly, not.  Male celebrities (especially those who are African American) seem to completely antagonize the idea of the faithful consummate partner.

In theory, I agree with her.

In practise, my boyfriend is in a band that could very well get signed and then become moderately famous. We’ve been together for years so it’s not like I fell for him BECAUSE of what he does for a living. Sometimes “real love” arrives in circumstances you could not have always foreseen or would not have preferred (shrugs).

I pretty much agree. It took Bey and Jay like 10 years to get to a point where they could begin to open up. I respect the privacy. Plus, sometimes, some things aren’t our business.

Me with a celebrity? Ha, I’m safe from that. I don’t fit the “mold.”
