According to fashion stylist Bethany Winters–mom of two sons–moms stuck in a rut should get dressed in the morning. “Get up, shower, get dressed and put on a bit of makeup, even if it’s just lip gloss,” says Winters who blogs at her site L.A. Stylist Mom. “It’ll help you to feel more like yourself pre-baby and get things back to normal…well, somewhat.”
Winters also suggests that, if you can, get out of your maternity clothes. “If you can, buy just a couple of non-maternity interim items on the cheap from say, Target or Old Navy, it really helps. Just some drawstring pants to pair with pretty tunics or a shift dress. Also, shoes and accessories always fit!”
Other tips from Winters for moms to get back to sassy:
- Wear nude undergarments (nude meaning the color of your skin!).
- If it says ‘Juicy’ on the butt, it is not age appropriate – you are someone’s mother.
- Wear the size that fits you, not the number that you think you are or hope to be.
- Have an arsenal of comfy, easy pieces that work well together. One of the biggest mistakes women make, is purchasing a bunch of random items without considering what they already have in their closet; take an inventory before you shop.
