Women Who Stack More Money Than Their Men

December 23rd, 2011 - By jaebi

For years I’ve been warning my male friends that women are going to win the gender wars that no official will admit exists (it’s a secret).

Slowly but surely, the Faction of She has been plotting to turn the odds back in her favor, rekindling an era when a Queens cunning, grace and power, trumped any Kings bravado, strength and intimidation.

Less than 50 years ago, employers could legally pay a woman less money for the exact same job. For decades after the Equal Pay Act, many employers found legal ways to do the same thing.

Though in 2010, TIME highlighted  a story based on a study about women under 30 who are making more money than their male counterparts. It’s been a long time coming…

Eventually, the more macho among us will rally and fight against the rising Faction of She, but by then it will be too late. Their cries for outrage will be outnumbered by women and her stay at home husbands, boy toys and sperm donors, men too evolved to fuss over who’s on top.

With this next group of ladies, there’s no questioning who’s on top, when it comes to stacks, and stacks, and stacks, of dough. This list of celebrities are quite used to making more money than their men:

When sistah’s ball out farther than their man, it’s not uncommon for their man to be their manager. Is that a conflict of interest on his behalf or a misplacement of trust on hers?

I think a lot of times it’s a compromise on the woman’s part. It’s her way of letting him “run the show” even though she makes the money.

The examples mention are not good ones – they are all the Hollywood type which attracts a different personality type and are in the extreme numerical minority.  Better examples would be a woman making $50k and her husband making $25k.

Ultimately it becomes an individual choice about ends and goals.  Is one parent expected to stay home and raise the children? Is the lower wage job a sacrifice for a higher personal goal?

I think for many women making more money is not the issue.  It’s what he brings to the table that is more important.  A man can bring home less income.  The point is, he has to bring home an INCOME from a secure/ stable job.  He also has to have goals – what is he doing with his income? - financial planning, savings, debt, etc.
I read an article stating that 25% of US women earn more than their husbands.  And with more women entering math and science based careers this will comtinue to rise.
Problem is, too many women consider making more money with being the boss / head of household. And unfortunately, too many women are working while their men are not  /taking care of a deadbeat (I know many Master’s and PHd women who do this as well). Also some men resent their women making more money.

    • just an opinion

It’s not a resentment of a woman making more money, it’s how she acts.  I’ve seem women change from being an equal on all fronts to trying to wear the pants and control the situation.  For some men this may work, for others not a chance.
For years men have always been the bread winner and while no one really complained, it seems now that this is slowly changing and while change is good it can also be dangerous.  If my woman made more than me, so be it, as long as it is going to be used in the same manner as mine or compliment what I’m doing more power to you.  The notion of “what yours is mine and what’s mine is mine” just will not work.

No, dont be fooled, even when the women doesnt have the “Im in control b/c I make more money than you” chip on her shoulder, some men feel inadequate.
