Last night in Manhattan, Bronx Charter School for the Arts announced Grammy Award winning artist and producer Swizz Beatz as Chair of “Friends of Bronx Arts,” a special committee for avid supporters of the school. The inaugural “Bronx Arts Recognize” was held at exclusive New York nightlife venue Avenue and honored (in addition to Beatz) four key Bronx Arts supporters, including: The Honorable Maria Carmen del Arroyo (New York City Council Member), Frances Engoron, Russell Granet and Barbara and Edward Wilson.

Swizz Beatz has served as an ongoing supporter and friend to Bronx Arts for the past several years. Beatz’ designation as the “Friends of Bronx Arts” committee chair will solidify a partnership with the school and will provide a platform for establishing a long-term leadership position and decision-making role.

An advocate for arts in education, Swizz is committed to assisting the school with achieving its fundraising objectives for its after-school program, which provides academic intervention—as well as arts and enrichment activities—for over 100 Bronx Arts students.

I got a chance to personally speak to Swizz and he was uber excited about being named chair and has a genuine love and passion for working with the students.  Being in a position to influence others, he wants everyone to know that the “Sky isn’t the limit, it’s only the view” and “with hard-work, discipline and belief, anything is possible.” Swizz not only feels the need to be a great father to his own children, but a great father, inspiration and mentor to our generation.

Congrats to Swizzy on this great honor! So good to see him with such a positive attitude, giving back to the kiddies! We need to see more positive male role models like him!

Bronx Arts currently serves 300 students in grades K-5. For more information or  please visit www.bronxarts.net.
