Oh HAIR No!: 7 Hair Horror Stories

If you’re a woman, chances are you have a hair horror story. A time in your life when you wanted your hair to look a certain way, do a certain thing and it just didn’t go down like that. Maybe it was something you did to yourself or something someone accidentally or purposely did to you, either way it was a traumatic experience.  Check out some of these hair horror stories and feel free to share your own in the comments section.

    I’m not only Black but I also have Irish and Cherokee heritage as well.  I was never able to wear french rolls, finger waves (not that I ever wanted too, lol), you know hairstyles that had to be gel down. I also can’t wear the hairstyles where you hair shaved close to your head because my hair does not lay down straitght.  I asked a hair stylist to trim my edges.  She cut my hair real short ( so I would have to keep coming back to get it done)  She permed the back of my hair every two weeks to make it lay down,  ALL of my hair fell out!  I had to wear a wig for 2 years straight!  SMDH!

    For about 3-4 years I had fierce looking pixie cut
    that turned heads… Couldn’t go anywhere without someone asking me ”Who did
    your hair girl’’? I was damn proud to say I did it myself! Fast forward
    September of this year I headed to Wal-Mart and got myself a highlighting kit.
    I wanted to look good for back to Uni. Well, it was 4am and my head looked like
    Carrot top. It wasn’t the end of the world; there’s nothing a little jet black
    Bigen dye couldn’t fix. See, sometimes you have to get burned twice to learn
    your lesson. I was feeling so confident in the strength of my hair that 3 weeks
    later I proceeded to perm my hair. Two minutes in my hair literally started
    to– MELT! I ran to the sink like there was no tomorrow. Too late stupid, the
    contour of my hair was gone, there was nothing left but hair in the middle. I was
    bald as naked mole rat. I shaved what was left and bought myself a 200$ lace
    wig and I’ve been wearing since then. I’m going natural– and it wasn’t no damn
    choice. 

     

    Oh, and let’s not leave out that my dramatic 18 yo
    self cried, hollered and fainted when I finally went to see what my baby sister
    was gasping in horror about. It was bad.

    Took some box braids out after 4 months and didn’t comb out the shed hairs before washing. :0  
    Washed my hair thinking, I’ll detangle it while its wet. Got out the shower and what did I see? My new growth had locked.  I bought some weave out sprayed it on and spent every night for the next week combing it out section by section.  I had a crazy half dread updo at work for the next week. Sis was looking crazy. My hair looked fine after I combed it all out, Never again!

    I rolled my hair with those pink plastic rollers and I made the mistake of putting hair spray with the rollers still in I had to pull the rollers out wit my hair still in them.

    06′ Hair was armpit length lookin fly… my bff (at the time) offered to glue some tracks in. I said no at first, but then she was all “i’ll just do 3 tracks and we can take it out tomorrow”. I gave in. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!!! Hair looked fly with the tracks, but when it came time for removal she was no where to be found. So the weave novice I was i used conditioner to soften the tracks and remove them. Well, the tracks sure did come out but the glue didn’t. I then had to watch as I combed clumps of glue and hair out of my head. :O :O :O :O :O It was so bad after that u could feel where the tracks had been if u ran ur fingers through my hair. We are no longer friends. Fast forward 2 years ’08… Hair finally grew back in and I was lookin HOT lol. My mom permed my hair at home (to save money no doubt) and when she got too tired to wash it out I had to. Well at the time I had half inch long nails. Long story short I only washed the right side properly and 65-70% of the hair on the left side of my head fell out. No joke the hair was less than a cm long and I had a chemical burn all over my scalp. ’11 I am now almost bra strap long and never let n e one but my stylist touch my hair :)

      didn’t even remember to add that when I was 5 I idolized my dad and cut a bald spot to be just like him SMH. Got an infection from the dirty craft scissors and now 19 years later the hair back there just ain’t the same lol

    The worst for me was when i cut my hair when i was 8 because i wanted to have the Naomi Campbell front pony. My mother was livid, lol

    Guilty of two outta three but man u was young and didn’t know how to do my natural hair and instead of hair oils I used helmets glue smh imagine my moms surprise

    ROFL at Orange Rage!  That has happen to me but I have one that’s even worse.  I decided to dye my hair myself Indigo (black with reflective blue)  Well my hair is naturally really light so when I was done it came out green, no bueno.  Lucky for me my grandma is a beautician
