They may have been married on TV and only stayed together for eight weeks, but for Iris Caldwell, that doesn’t make her divorce to Keith Manley any less real or painful.
According to Reality TV World, the star of Season 9 of Married at First Sight did a Q&A with fans via her InstaStories last week and answered a few burning questions about life after the show. One of those questions was when the beauty last saw Manley. For fans hoping the two might take baby steps to reconciliation, Caldwell burst bubbles.
“Y’all been waiting for this question to be answered….Y’all know I’m straight up honest with all my Q&As, so I’m about to be honest,” she said. “Last time I saw Keith was at reunion — and that was months ago.”
When asked if she’s been doing okay as far as moving forward from the divorce, she said these days she’s fine, but initially, it was very difficult to get over.
“So, for the first phase of our separation, it was really hard y’all. Like, I was growing in emotions with this guy and thinking about our future and babies,” she told fans. “And to have all that ripped from me was really, really hard, but I have definitely healed a lot since then and there’s been a lot of time. So, I’m good.”
It’s likely that the split was hard to stomach, aside from the obvious, because Caldwell and Manley seemed like they didn’t have much conflict that could signal that they wouldn’t last. She did, of course, say she wanted to stay together on Decision Day. However, they just couldn’t get over the whole virginity thing, specifically this idea that he felt she dealt with it and and sex in general in an immature way. This, she says, was news to her until she watched the episodes back.
“I actually never heard Keith say the word ‘immature’ a day in the my life until watching it on TV, live in front of the world.”
But don’t feel bad for Caldwell, as she said, she’s “good,” and based on her Instagram, she certainly looks that way.
“Everything happens for a reason. God makes no mistakes!” she wrote as the caption to a photo of herself in her wedding gown. “God’s direction may not be what you want but it is what you NEED, it’s what he NEEDs and for that I am blessed beyond measure because what doesn’t break me makes me stronger in faith!!”
