Amanda Seales Insecure

During her The Breakfast Club interview this week, DJ Envy asked Amanda Seales if she was still on Insecure after all of the cast, with the exception of Sarunas Jackson of course, had been quiet about her Black Emmys party drama. She responded by saying, “What kind of dumb a– question is that? It’s a dumb a– question. Next question.”

Well, her tone was a lot different during a chat with The Daily Beast recently, where she clarified that she has been on the set of Insecure filming Season 4 and had not been written out. As for how the vibe has been on set since she outed creator Issa Rae’s publicist, Vanessa Anderson, as the culprit behind her embarrassing removal from that party, Amanda made it seem like everyone has maintained professionalism because they are doing a job.

“The beauty is that we’re all professional people who have worked together for four seasons. And I think we all understand that there aren’t even enough black shows for us to even let that scenario bleed over into what we’re doing,” she said. “So I’m fortunate to be able to work with folks who understand that. And I think what a lot of people don’t grasp is that when you’re doing television and you’re doing this work, you’re still at work.”

However, she kept it real about the fact that with working long hours on the HBO comedy, some “things happen” that aren’t so light and positive, but they can still do what they’re supposed to out of respect for the work.

“We’re friends on the show, but even on the show there are strained moments and ups and downs,” she said. “So if you’re on the set every day for 15 hours a day, there are going to be those things too. Things happen.”

So if you were wondering, Amanda’s job is in tact. Further proving that, show costume designer Shiona Turini shared an InstaStory of Amanda in the fitting room for the series, smiling from ear to ear while showing off some sleek baby hairs. Amanda posted it on her page, not only because it’s cute, but likely to also send a message:

If that’s not clear evidence that all is well on the HBO comedy (at least for Season 4), then we don’t know what is.
