Matthew Knowles Takes Beyoncé and Live Nation to Court

The former manager of Destiny’s Child is accused of stealing from his superstar daughter.

Once upon a time, Matthew Knowles was considered an executive genius in the entertainment business.  60 million album sales later, Mathew Knowles’ daughter, Beyoncé, is one of the largest entertainment acts in the world and her beloved father has been ousted as her manager.  He is now standing accused of stealing from the very daughter whose career he started.

In May, Beyoncé quietly released her father from his duties without much comment about the split.  Beyoncé immediately signed a joint management deal with Live Nation and her husband, Jay-Z’s management company, Roc Nation and has released the rather lackluster album, “4.”  On the other end of the musical spectrum, Mathew Knowles was terminated by the two other members of Destiny’s Child, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, and has been relatively quiet about both his relationship with his daughter and his future in music. Until now.

According to a report from The Associated Press, Knowles has filed papers in a Texas court for defamation of character.  He is alleging that certain members of Beyoncé’s business camp, including Live Nation, Roc Nation, and Columbia Records made “negative comments” about him and are slandering his reputation in the music industry.  He has retaliated against the accusations that he was responsible for stealing money from his daughter and has vowed to expose the true motivations of both Live Nation and Roc Nation.  ”We absolutely have not taken any money from Beyonce, and all dollars will be accounted for,” he told The Associated Press in an interview. “In no way have we stole money. Again, this about the people who have made these claims — they have to come into the light.”

In his lawsuit against Live Nation, Knowles claims that the management company had the most to gain in having him ousted from Beyoncé’s career and is responsible for persuading her into hiring a law firm to conduct an audit of her finances.  That audit uncovered the alleged stolen money and resulted in Knowles being terminated as manager.  Knowles has denied any wrong-doing and is convinced that removing him was a blatant maneuver from Live Nation.  ”The team ironically appeared to be a cross-pollination of Beyonce’s team, Roc Nation’s team, and Live Nation’s team, who ironically have the most to gain,” he told the Associated Press.

Knowles is determined to have his character and reputation restored.  He has requested a judge allow him to take depositions from employees at Live Nation to figure out exactly how the stealing accusation was formulated.  The judge has yet to approve his request, but ultimately, Mathew Knowles’ primary interest is what is best for his superstar daughter.  ”The relationship with Beyonce is extremely amicable. I want to make that clear. Where there’s concern is the people that she’s doing business with,” he said to the Associated Press. “I’m challenging all of these folks on integrity, professional integrity.”

Child support payments can become a motha. Back in the day it was said that Matthew stole monies from the former DC members. It was said besides Matthew stealing he also was partying hard, doing coke and positutes big time. I believe at some point maybe Matthew was taking from the pot and really thought he'll never get caught because it was his daughter. Also it was come out why both Kelly and Michelle fire his first.ill

This dude gave up his six figure salary because of his belief in her talent…why would he take from her? well, if he did shame on him, if he didnt, and she's believing the BS, shame on her.
Its not that her album is lackluster, she's just overrated. Beyonce is very talented, but it's not that serious. I like 4 and the 1st disc from the I Am…Sasha Fierce album better than the first two albums because it's a more mature take for her. Family is all you have in this world, and if you dont have family, you dont have nobody. I hope she knows what she's doing.

or her mother getting back at the ex husband because he cheated on her and had a kid on the side

Got caught with hand in the cookie Jar. they didnt just accuse him for the hell of it and it must be Serious for his Own Daughter to side against him. Pretty damn sure beyonce got all the facts first before she Fired her dad. she didnt just go on a whim.

    • Voodoobudder

Well, if Beyonce told him the facts…he wouldn't be asking for the courts permission to look at those records…

This is really sad. I knew that once she got with that thug she would become lost and turned out. How dare Beyonce. That man gave up everything for her ungreatful unthankful behind. She's going to down fast now. Soon, she will be a has been because God does not like ugly. Keep your head up Mr. Knowles and stand up to that thug and his HOMEES. The truth will prevail. As for the other two untalented Destiny's Child member….what nerve.

I don't blame Mr. Knowles, he has been Beyonce's manager since she was a child, and she should be SHAMED, without him, there is no her. I hope this is not about his jumpoff. Any judge will scold Beyonce in a court of law, and she will find out.

It's considered lack luster because none of the singles are charting well, it has taken her two weeks to do what she normally sells in one week, and the album is boring.

  • GUEST88

It's still lackluster compared to the rest. Her first single didn't even make it into the Top 10– maybe even Top 20. The album itself has been her lowest selling album.

  • lala

It was a bad album. The article got it right. And these days music “critics” are trained to appease stars because later on they will not get more interviews.

  • Nicki

Yeah, by no mean is the album "lackluster". It's actually been critically reviewed very well and has been quite successful worldwide. Not all "writers" are really familiar with they write about all the time so…On the Associated Press article.

  • aab

4 received Beyoncé's best critics ever, how is it lackluster? A mess of an article!
