I’m not saying that every woman wants to be in a relationship. And I’m certainly not saying that, if you do want one you should take tips from just any woman in a relationship. But, if you do find yourself wishing to have someone special in your life, and want one to finally stick, pay close attention to the details of your friend’s relationship that you really admire.

Im going through a rough patch in my relationship and asked two friends and a cousin for advice, believing I was getting sound advice because 3 women said the same thing. However, I thought about it and realized who I was taking advice from–unwed single mothers, victims of domestic violence, a weedhead, and a cat lady! Not saying the advice wasn’t prudent, but I realize their advice was more geared towards throwing out what is broken, rather than fixing it. If they don’t have what I desire, WHY WOULD I TAKE THEIR ADVICE DOWN TO THE WORD!?

Im aware of the lack of role models, and that I may need to seriously outsource when it comes to relationship advice. Most of the time, single women can only give single woman advice…and that could crumble a relationship!

Based on this article, if I were to follow the examples of my girls in their relationships, I wouldn’t be in mine! If I want examples of how to have a successful relationship, I’ll turn to elders who have been making it work for at least 20+ years. All this article did was make me realize how pathetic some of my girls relationships are.

If your friend cannot be a role model for you at something you don’t need this friend.
However, most black women never get the chance to see how a woman loves a man freely from their mother (black men as well). Seeing how our parents love each other can go a long way.
