The Street Report: Will Black Voters Be As Inspired in 2012?

July 13th, 2011 - By TheEditor

The stakes were high in 2008 when voters hit the polls. For African-Americans especially, it was a historic chance to vote in the the first Black president. And of course, we know that history was indeed made. But what about upcoming elections? Will black voters be just as engaged? TAP correspondent Eno Alfred took to the streets of New York to find out.

The GOP knows Blacks are VERY Motivated to Vote in 2012.
Proof— The GOP is at this time trying to make it more Difficult to vote, 40 states are adding NEW requirements to vote to make the Process extremely Difficult for Blacks and All People of color!!!!

BLACKS Will Vote in GREAT Numbers IF ALLOWED TO!!!

President Obama is facing an uphill battle just being President of the United States! He gets no Thank You" or credit for doing anything as President of the United States. A lot of blacks were drafted to the Vietnam War and returned black with no respect given. Mr Obama is biracial and others view him as black. Regardless, he would have a extremely difficult task advocating for blacks and browns only. He would catch hell trying to bridge the minority gap in unemployment; just look at what is happening with quotas Then, there's all the static and nonsense from the right and extremes right now.

I will be voting for Obama and definitely not for the GOP period. Everyone has their right of opinion but I cannot vote for someone who wants to empower the wealthy, tax havens, remove worker rights, offer a cheap voucher for healthcare costs, dismantling Medicaid, Medicare, Pell grants, HUD housing, Head Start, Legal Aid for the poor, Clean Water, Clean Air protections. Voting intimidation is spreading to a lot of states across the county. I agree, people wake up and be informed!

We all, no matter what race we are, need to Vote for Obama and the democratics both State and Local.. look at what the right wing folks are doing, just look at the folks in WI, and what they are up against. They are trying very hard to get the repubs out of office in a re-call vote, before it's to late… The same thing will happen if we let the repubs take the White House. I'm not trying to re-live 1960's.. If you don't think you can get a job now…. just wait , If the repubs get all the power , they already have the power in the House, People please wake up!

we need to vote for him again! That's the problem not enough of us went out and voted for the "small" elections that's why the republicans are in control! You have to remember he walked into a mess and now he's trying to fix it. You have to go through a little to gain a lot! Yes I'm going to vote for him again! All my friends and family are as well….it's time to make a change. Another four years and i bet he'll be known as the President that got us back on track.

we will regret it if republicans are back in office – less there is a challenging democratic then obama – i will choose him/her – otherwise i will vote for obama.

People in 2012 we MUST get out and vote with the same passion we had in 2008 and re-elect Presidest Obama. !!!!! Don’t let him be a one term president!

We better be more motivated than ever to vote being that all major crisis in America are hitting us the hardest.

I AM going to hold President Obama accountable….I'm not voting for him and I'm encouraging all of my AA friends NOT TO VOTE FOR HIM either! All Obama has done is pander to the Latino vote, to the detriment of the AA community. What has he done for us, huh? Black unemployment is double and triple to other ethnicities — even illegal immigrants!!!! That just pisses me off to no end! I'm voting Tea Party in 2012 and if black ppl knew what was best for them they would too!

  • lemme see ya twitter

of course we'll be ready to vote…duh

  • The Voice of Reason

The failure here is assuming people will vote for Obama just because he's the black man…

That is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE, and I'll gladly vote for a Republican, I was raised republican with republican parents. Keep race out of this.

  • sourheart

I do not think majority of black people will vote, in 2012 (if America is still around that long) esp not for Obama. He has shown on so many occasions that he is not black or for issues facing blacks. Obama's allegiance is to big bankers, large corporations, jews, those who contributed the 700 billions to his first campaign. No, one has ever been for the descendants of slaves, or will ever be.
