Social media has played an integral part in introducing the world to many of today’s dynamic and zealous entrepreneurs and Kimberly Stone is one of them. The model, designer and fashion entrepreneur is the founder and CEO of Poshglam.com, which provides editorial content that puts a spotlight on emerging luxury brands.

The site has grown into a trusted resource that covers events, trends, fashion happenings around the world and local information about various fashion markets. TAP caught up with the entrepreneur at Black Enterprise’s Women of Power summit to get her advice on how you can create your own distinguished brand through social media.

How do you suggest that people can establish a voice within social media such as yourself?

It’s really important to be personable but not divulge everything. It’s a balancing act. You want to think before you tweet. If you wouldn’t say it in a room full of people then you may not want to put it out there on Twitter. Twitter is more about listening and seeing what other people are doing. It’s not necessarily about projecting everything that you think.

If you’re establishing a brand, you want to really tailor your message to what’s best for the brand. Everything you do is an extension of the brand you represent. So when establishing a name online, just be careful. It’s important to be professional, but also be personable and balance the two.
