Quinn to OK Civil Unions, Medicaid Overhaul
(Chicago Tribune) — A measure allowing same-sex couples to enter into civil unions in Illinois will be signed by Gov. Pat Quinn on Monday in a ceremony at the Chicago Cultural Center, his office said. It’s one of two significant pieces of legislation Quinn said he will sign in the next week, the other being a major overhaul of the state’s Medicaid system. The General Assembly approved the civil unions legislation in early December. Quinn’s signing will be open to the public, but space is limited. Those wishing to attend should RSVP to the governor’s office.
