(Chicago Tribune) — What makes some employees feel so good about their jobs — and their bosses? That’s the question behind the Chicago Tribune’s inaugural Top Workplaces magazine. To get our answer, we partnered with WorkplaceDynamics, a consultancy based in Exton, Pa., to conduct an exclusive, confidential survey of thousands of Chicago-area employees at 182 companies. After receiving nominations from, and inviting, 1,362 local companies to participate, we had a unique chance to hear about workplace issues directly from employees. We then asked a team of reporters to spend time at some of the top-scoring workplaces to learn more about what these companies, and bosses, do so well.
