(FanHouse) — Bing has a lot to celebrate in a basketball life that eventually took him to the Naismith Hall of Fame, and he has much to take pride in from his immediate post-basketball career, as a successful businessman for nearly three decades. And the career he launched after that is worth celebrating as well … if he could find the time.  But being mayor of Detroit — arguably America’s most depressed, downtrodden, scandal-ridden major city — tends to distract Bing slightly from dwelling on past athletic glories. “It’s different from the two careers,” Bing said of politics, punctuating the thought with a laugh, as he sat courtside at the Carrier Dome before the program honoring Boeheim last month.
