(AP) — Michelle Obama is jumping into the midterm political fray in a big way.
The White House says the first lady will be making at least nine political appearances in six states next month at fundraisers for Democratic candidates.
That’s a fairly big political investment for a first lady who’s always said she’s just not a political animal.
The first lady will be raising money and campaigning for candidates in Wisconsin, Illinois, Colorado, New York, California and Washington state.
It’s no surprise that the Democrats want to use the first lady’s star power: Polls show she’s more popular than her husband, President Barack Obama.
