If you’ve been holding out hope for a reconciliation between Lala and Carmelo Anthony, then you’ll be glad to know that the couple seems to be making things work.
In case you’ve missed out on their marital ups and downs, the couple, who were married in 2010, separated last April. The Power actress moved out of the home they shared together, and their split came after rumors that the NBA star impregnated another woman. She stayed with their son Kiyan in New York, while Carmelo has since uprooted himself, moving to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder for the 2017-2018 season, and most recently joining the Houston Rockets.
When questioned after the split about the possibility that they might work things out, Lala seemed to be focused on her son rather than her relationship, and said that if she and Carmelo were supposed to reunite, they would inevitably do so.
“Whatever is meant to be will be,” she said soon after news of their separation went public. “I’m a firm believer in that. I’ll make it work.”
But in a new interview with PEOPLE while at the launch of a men’s grooming line in NYC alongside her estranged husband, it sounded like the couple is back on.
“We’re good. I mean, we’ve been together for a really long time so we’re figuring out how to make it work for what is best for [our 11-year-old son] Kiyan and what is best for us,” she said.
And not only do the couple sound like they’re back on, but according to PEOPLE, they’re behaving like it as well. The publication said they spotted Lala sitting on Carmelo’s lap at one point in the evening, even sharing kisses.
“We’re having fun!” she said while speaking about their time at the Lumiere de Vie Hommes event. “I have my husband here, my friends here, it’s a really exciting time.”
They’ve come a long way over the last few months, because back in June, Lala sounded too busy to reconcile, date, or do anything that included an individual of the opposite sex who wasn’t Kiyan.
“I’m just really, just open to focusing on … my son and what he’s doing,” she said at the time. “That’s where I put my energy and my focus right now. With all of my workload and my son’s schedule, I really don’t have time for anything else.”
Looks like she made some time after all…
