(AJC) — Though the number of homes sold in metro Atlanta rose during the first half of the year, that trend isn’t likely to hold for the rest of 2010, real estate experts say.

The July downturn in sales volume and declines in the number of homes under contract suggest 2010 sales numbers will not eclipse those reached in 2009, they say.

“We’re not going to be able to finish the year ahead of 2009 figures,” said Steve Palm, president of Marietta-based real estate data company SmartNumbers.
