MAFS couples

Lifetime

Our babies have had a baby!

Honestly though, after watching Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre meet, marry, struggle to communicate, work through their issues, fall in love and announce their pregnancy, it does feel like we know them personally.

The pair, who were featured in Season 6 of Married at First Sight, announced to PEOPLE that they welcomed their daughter on August 20, three weeks earlier than expected. Her name is Laura Denise Pierre, and she was named after both Jephte’s mom, Laura, and Shawniece’s mother, Denise. She weighed in at five pounds, 15 ounces and 17 3/4 inches long at her time of birth.

Both mom and dad are overjoyed by the arrival of their first child.

“Seeing my daughter and holding her for the first time was magical,” Shawniece said. “There are no words that can describe that feeling. I remember, before she was born, thinking about her features and if she’d have hair. I was born bald. So the first thing my mama said as I pushed her out was, ‘Look at her hair.’ What a moment we all had in the delivery room. I’m just so honored to be her mom.”

“Seeing my daughter for the first time was so overwhelming,” Jephte added. “Watching Shawniece push her out drew me to tears. Watching her birth has to be the best moment of my young life. It’s incredible to think she’s all ours.”

The couple had their baby shower just a few weeks before the early delivery, and they were glowing:

Shawniece announced that she was expecting back in April, as the couple prepared to share whether they were going to stay together or call it quits on the decision day episode.

Viewers who watched and loved Shawniece and Jephte on last season’s MAFS are lucky, because they will get to watch how the couple prepared for parenthood and have adjusted to marriage since deciding to stay together on the show. They are a part of the upcoming MAFS spin-off, Happily Ever After, and celebrated their one-year anniversary days after delivering baby Laura.

So happy for these two! Can’t wait to tune into their continued love story when Married at First Sight: Happily Ever After premieres on October 30 at 10/9c on Lifetime.
