They may not have the years on them as many of our favorite Black couples do, but you can’t deny that Karrueche Tran and Victor Cruz are one of the most fun, and cute couples out there to watch right now. We were reminded of that as they held hands and posed joyously while enjoying shows for New York Fashion Week. We probably like them so much because we know that Tran hasn’t had the best luck in love. We watched her go from good times to bad with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, with their relationship and overall communication ending with a secret child he had with another woman and a restraining order.
Tran told Salon in June that going through that tumultuous relationship helped her come out of her shell and be the woman she is today, and therefore, better able to appreciate a healthy relationship with Cruz.
“Looking at myself now, at the woman that I am now, I’m so much better than I was then, I’m so much more confident, I’m so much more sure about what I want and what I don’t want,” she said. “Unfortunately, I had to go through those situations to become who I am today, and I wouldn’t change anything about it because I wouldn’t be who I am if I didn’t go through that period in my life. Mine is a great story of a ‘glow-up,’ you know? At least I can look back and say, ‘Whew! At least I got through that. I’m not dealing with that sh-t no more!’”
And no, we don’t know if Cruz is the complete opposite of Brown and a super good guy who won’t do her wrong. However, we do know that he, so far, makes her very happy.
“He’s so sweet, like a really nice guy, he’s genuinely kind and it’s so refreshing to be with such a kind, great guy,” she said back in May. “And it doesn’t hurt that his body is bangin’!”
