(Washington Business Journal) — The U.S. House Appropriations Committee is just about done with its version of the fiscal 2011 budget. What do House members have in store, earmark-wise, for the Washington area? More than $31 million for area government and nonprofits to tackle everything from pollution and domestic and gang violence to interchange projects, job training and prenatal health services.

With Democrats in control of the House, for now, Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer in control as majority leader and Virginia Rep. Jim Moran in control of the Interior and Environment Appropriations subcommittee, it’s a good time to be the National Capital region. Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly, Maryland Reps. Chris Van Hollen and Donna Edwards, and D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton — all Democrats — also made certain the NCR did OK.
