HelloBeautiful and MadameNoire have collaborated on a brand new digital talk show called Listen To Black Women that discusses the issues that affect us most and in today’s episode we’re asking the question: Are we currently experiencing a crisis of masculinity?
Recently there has been a surge of headlines detailing tragic stories of Black women being abused and in some cases murdered by their partners. Juxtaposed against these tales are the never-ending debates about a “gay agenda” that seeks to emasculate the Black man while Black women who are independent, successful, and leading the charge in a myriad of ways in society are being accused of the same thing. When you consider the changing gender dynamics at play and the ways in which men still struggle with their identity and developing tools to navigate the current landscape, we can’t help but ask if some of the recent outbursts of rage and violence geared toward women are rooted in a crisis of masculinity.
In this episode, we tackle that topic by sharing insights from you, our audience, and what you had to say on our latest poll. We’ll also dive into the larger social media discussion being had and discuss various thinkpieces around the Internet. We also have a candid conversation with motivational speaker and author Lisa Nichols on navigating today’s gender climate and tools for combating toxic masculinity.
Tune in to the episode above and make sure you take our next poll to have your voice heard in the conversation.
