Paula Patton’s new boyfriend, in an effort to clear the air of rumors that he’s a very married man carrying on a relationship with the actress, decided to set the record straight in an interview with PEOPLE.
Zachary told the magazine that there hasn’t been any home-wrecking happening because despite the Page Six report, he and his wife have been living separate lives “for a while.”
“We were totally separated before I moved on,” the 37-year-old realtor said, though he didn’t specify if their separation was legal and if there had been room for reconciliation in the minds of either party. And as far as rumors that he left his wife jilted and broken with his new public relationship, Quittman can only stand by his story.
“Obviously there’s three sides to every story and I’m not pointing the finger or saying anyone’s wrong,” he said, “but we were definitely separated before I moved on.”
Quittman and his estranged wife were married for nearly 20 years and share two children. As previously reported, Patton, 42, and Quittman have only been dating a month after meeting at a kiddie basketball game. She revealed that she was in this new relationship earlier this week during an interview with Extra, saying she’s even in love. A day later, as they stepped out together for the first time while she did press, hand-in-hand and smiling, reports about his marital status came out.
Patton was excited to share that she was off the market when she spilled the beans this week.
“I have a boyfriend,” she told Extra. “I haven’t called anybody a boyfriend. He’s my boyfriend!”
Patton ended her marriage to Robin Thicke in 2015 after they were together for 10 years following the singer’s infidelity. They share 8-year-old son Julian together.
