It’s Only Been A Month, But Paula Patton Is In Love With New Boyfriend: “When You Know, You Know”
Paula Patton has found love again, and she’s not afraid to say it.
The 42-year-old actress sat down for an interview with Extra‘s Tanika Ray to promote her new film, Traffik, for which she is a producer. During the conversation, Patton’s love life came up and she was asked if she was still testing the waters as far as datingg. The star said, in fact, that she actually has a whole new boyfriend out here.
“I have a boyfriend,” she said as Ray squealed in happiness. “I do! And I haven’t called anybody a boyfriend, so he’s my boyfriend.”
The pair have been dating for a month now, but she said that she was comfortable talking about him because “when you know, you know.”
And not only does she know that he’s a great match for her, but she also knows that “I love him.”
Despite the bad rap that dating in Los Angeles gets, Patton shared some advice and said she found her beau at son Julian’s basketball game.
“If you have a kid and you’re at a basketball game, look at the daddies [laughs],” she joked. “Single dad. It’s kind of a suburban romance. It’s like an old woman’s fairy tale [laughs]. He’s got kids. I’ve got a kid. One of those.”
As far as her previous relationship, her 10-year marriage to singer Robin Thicke (a relationship that started in 1993) ended in 2015, and the two went through a rough time as they battled for custody. Thankfully though, they were able to come to an agreement and have been able to peacefully co-parent for the sake of their son. So when it comes to what advice she could offer others struggling to co-parent, it’s to “live in the now.”
“You have to forgive,” she said. “That was then, this is now. You don’t have to hold on to anything. You are not doing your children any service. They feel everything. They want their parents to get along. And no matter how you feel about your spouse, everybody wants to love their parents. They want to love their mommy. They want to love their daddy. We all know that. So don’t get in the way. And bring as much peace and harmony to their life as you can.”
Check out Traffik when it hits theaters on Friday, April 20.
