One of the biggest critiques of Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling protest during “The National Anthem” was that he was disrespecting our soldiers. I think we could all see through that. You need only look at the homeless and suicide rates for veterans to know that this country doesn’t give a damn about them. But anything to deflect from addressing racism.

This past weekend, we saw just how little White racists care about our troops when an elderly woman attempted to harass and then attack two, Black service women in Macon, Georgia.

According to several witnesses and video from the incident, the altercation began when an old White woman, Judy Tucker, her husband and her daughter, Angie, began calling two women “lesbians” and “gay Black b*tches” outside of a Cheddars restaurant.

One witness, LaKeycia Ward, said that the woman and her family were upset with the service women for not waiting for them to reverse back into their handicap parking spot for her husband. Instead, the two women went around them and parked in a separate space. The family followed the women into the restaurant trying to insult them, saying “The military lets lesbians serve?” At that point, Ward started recording the incident.

When one of the service women started recording as well, Tucker attempted to grab the phone out of her hand. When she was unsuccessful, the man with her did the same, trying to strong-arm the woman.

Eventually, the woman snatched someone’s phone and wouldn’t return it. Her daughter, Angie tried to confront another witness about  it and her insistence on recording.

Thankfully, the police were called and Judy Tucker was arrested. In classic racist White woman form, she started crying, acting as if she were the victim in this whole situation.

There were two officers who showed up on the scene, one Black and one White. Tucker’s daughter immediately tried to appeal to the White one saying that she had at least “10 guys on…10 Black guys on me.” I see after all these years, the racists still have deviated from their shared script. Oppress and terrorize Black people. Play the victim when authorities show up and pretend a Black person made you feel threatened or intimidated. Thank God we live in the age of cell phone footage where a White woman’s lies don’t supersede a Black woman’s truth.

And all props to these military women who maintained their composure in a situation where they would have been more than justified to clock that elderly woman upside her head.
