While plenty women may love a thick man — or teddy bear, as husky men are often affectionately called — the fashion industry hasn’t been so quick to embrace large male bodies. That’s probably because they’re just barely getting around to somewhat accepting large female bodies.

But one group of fellas isn’t waiting around for a designer or big name brand like, say, Calvin Klein to give them a chance to shine. They’ve taken matters into their own hands, recreating A$AP Mobs recent ad for the underwear brand and reminding the world they exist.

Plus-size male model Darnel Ghramm put the project labeled, “#WeAreBigAndTall,” together. As he told Mic.com, “I immediately thought it would be cool to recreate the shoot for my birthday with a few friends. In the midst of planning, I was tagged in a post by @foreverfeminism. The image and caption read, ‘I’ve never seen a plus male model.’ And that’s when hit me, I’m a plus male model and can definitely recreate the #MyCalvins campaign shoot. When I saw Diana’s shoot it just solidified the idea and I knew I had to do the shoot and answer the questions the others were asking.”

The shoot he’s referring to is plus-size model Diana Sirokai’s recreation of the Kardashian’s Calvin Klein ad last month with fellow curvy models in the industry.

Inspired by these plus-size female models, Ghramm gathered a few of his fellow male models together for a shoot captured by photographer Tony Trott. And when he shared the finished product on his social media, he did so with a powerful message.

“They asked…Have you ever seen a Plus Male Model? Do they even exist? What even constitutes as a plus size man? Then they asked…Does anyone remember that ‘Plus Size’ Calvin Klein campaign? Well, do you?!

“I decided to bring together a few plus males with different ethnicities, height, sizes & shapes to answer these questions & recreate the ‘Plus Size Male’ shoot Calvin Klein missed out on. We EXIST and we are constituted by many different things. Whether big, tall or simply fall outside of the worlds standards, we are ALL handsome and worthy, FACT!”
