‘Black Panther” Passes $1 Billion In Box Office Sales; Sequel In The Works

Black Panther released, which lead to it being a groundbreaking film for Marvel. Almost a month after its release, its still setting and breaking records worldwide.

Fortune reports that the black superhero flick has grossed $1 billion in ticket sales globally. This milestone was achieved after the film’s debut in China, which helped the film pass $500 million in sales outside the U.S. Black Panther has grossed $521 million since its February 16th release.

The Ryan Coogler-directed film is Disney’s 16th movie to have this achievement. Black Panther is also the U.S’s ninth highest-grossing film of all time.

With all this success, it would only be right for there to be a Black Panther 2 in the future right? Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed with Entertainment Weekly that a sequel is in the works.

“There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther,” Feige said. “We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”
