Remember watching Fox on Thursday nights? That evening was pretty Black. It was Martin, Living Single and New York Undercover. All of the shows were innovative for their time, but New York Undercover was clearly the most ahead of its time, a police drama by the creator of Law & Order starring Black and Hispanics in the lead roles. Epic.

The show ran for four seasons, ending in 1998. And while we’ve seen the cast move on to different projects here and there (mostly Malik Yoba, who played Detective J.C. Williams and Lauren Velez, who played Detective Nina Moreno-Torres), we haven’t seen them together, publicly, since they were on the series. That is until now.

With the exception of Patti D’Arbanville-Quinn, who played take-no-nonsense Lieutenant Virginia Cooper, the cast came together to support Velez. She’s performing in the stage play, Water by the Spoonful, which is playing in L.A. until March 11.

It was a happy family reunion for the trio, who celebrated coming together with the many fans of the show.

“We made history and changed the culture!!” said Yoba. “Forever proud to know these two beautiful humans. Siempre Familia!!”

The pictures prompted quite a few people to hope for a reboot of the show, especially since all of the episodes aren’t available anywhere — except for YouTube. But at the end of last year, Yoba told The Source that producers behind the show haven’t really pushed to bring it back. However, you can never say never.

“I’ve been down, but right now I’m a little passed it,” he said. “Shooting in New York is always amazing, I’m shooting Seven Seconds there. But just to shoot in NY, I’m just a happy camper. But we’ll see if it’s the right situation and with the right circumstances, I’d be open, because I really, really loved Detective J.C. Williams – he was one of my favorite characters.”
