Yvonne Orji Hilariously Explains Why It’s Important Not To Be A Hater When You’re Single On Valentine’s Day
Some people truly love love, even if they’re not necessarily receiving the romantic kind.
That includes actress and comedian Yvonne Orji. She doesn’t have a Valentine this year, but the new spokeswoman for Colgate Total (who has an extremely bright and beautiful smile if you haven’t noticed) said she loves watching couples express their feelings for one another on the holiday.
“I love love, even though right now, the mens aren’t showing me love [fakes cries],” the 34-year-old joked. “What I love most about Valentine’s Day is really the love. I love seeing the couples. I love — I’m not one of those people hating like, ‘Oh you happy? Don’t nobody care about your happiness!’ I’m like. ‘Oh, you’re happy!’ One day I’m going to like know what that feels like and experience that and I think it’s beautiful.”
But for the times when she has had a big Valentine’s Day date, the star said she makes sure her best feature, her smile, is on point.
First, it starts with just like, one, feeling good about yourself, right? And once you feel good about yourself, then everything comes to play,” she said. “My ultimate goal is to have a fresh face and let my smile be like my best asset. I feel like once I feel good, I feel totally ready.”
Orji is waiting to meet her perfect match, but in the meantime, she’s been open about her decision to maintain her virginity until marriage. As a woman of strong faith, it’s a decision she’s very much proud of herself.
“I’m open, because why not?” she said about her honesty in regards to her virginity last summer. “I’m grounded in who I am. Before any of [the fame] happened, I sat down with myself and with God and thought, when I make it, how do you want me to represent you while I’m here? It was like, OK, I know why I’m here. It’s to make you proud.”
