Earlier this week comedian Leslie Jones opened up in an unexpected way on Twitter about how hard it has been for her when it comes to dating. The 50-year-old said that she was getting somewhat discouraged on her fitness journey because she felt like the people she wanted to notice and care about her transformation, men that is, were not paying attention.

“I feel like I’m doing it for nothing,” she wrote. “I know it not [sic] I’m healthy and look good but I really feel like ‘what’s it all for’ if the people you want to notice don’t. I just feel like I might die alone.”

Plenty of people took to her Twitter page and shared messages of encouragement. They reminded Jones that she should continue the hard work she’s been putting in for herself because she’s worth it. Even legendary puppet Miss Piggy stepped in and tried to share some positivity:

But it was actress Meagan Good who shared the word Jones probably really needed to hear. The message centered around having faith and knowing that she is — all of us really — a gift and in the “perfect time,” she would have the desires of her heart. As the 36-year-old put it, “God ain’t giving you away to just anybody.”

“The right people will notice,” she said. “You are a ‘Gift’ and God doesn’t give His precious gifts away to everyone. He’s selective. He gives you to who He can trust. Your [sic] doing it for something. Your [sic] preparing for something (career, relationship, purpose etc.). Making it so that your body will continue to take you wherever God wants you to go. He has a plan and He WILL give you the desires of your heart at the perfect time, with the right people/person. Be encouraged”:

We’re pretty sure that was a message we could all use. Kudos to Good (aka, First Lady Franklin) for using her platform to encourage another Black woman!
