(Washington Business Journal) — President Barack Obama Thursday cancelled plans for oil drilling off the coast of Virginia and extended a moratorium on new deepwater drilling permits. The announcement was made in the President’s first news conference since a BP-operated oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico collapsed in April, triggering the biggest oil spill in U.S. history.
