“I Need To Hit The Gym ASAP”: Kandi Burruss Is As Impressed By Her Abs As You Are In Throwback Pic

December 6, 2017  |

It’s happened to many of us. Someone pulls up a picture of us when we were younger, leaner, less stressed and on a completely different meal plan and says, “Wow! You looked so good!” Of course, they don’t mean any harm, and it doesn’t mean you don’t still look great. In fact, the photo can sometimes do more good than harm. It can set fire under your behind and get you moving. It can proudly remind you of what your body is capable of.

I’ve been through that, and Kandi Burruss found herself in a similar situation this week. A nostalgic Instagram page that takes people back with its nods to ’90s and ’00s hip-hop, pop and R&B posted an image of the 41-year-old from the days when she was out here toting a serious six-pack and wearing very little:

Tagged in the picture, Kandi ended up seeing it and commenting, stunned by her own body in the image.

“Wow! I need to hit the gym ASAP!” she said. “Those were the days when I worked out all the time.”

The Real Housewives of Atlanta still looks pretty amazing, and in fact, lost quite a bit of weight recently after giving birth to her son Ace early last year. She said a lighter diet and the wonders of breastfeeding were behind her surprising slim down.

“Breast feeding is a major contributor but also, I did not drink anything but water, no juice, no soda, nothing for the first month and a half,” she said while being interviewed on the Dr. Oz Show. “And no sweets because I’m a sweet eater, I love sweets; I can eat dessert after every meal. So I didn’t eat any sweets.”

“It was extremely hard,” she continued. “But … doing that with breast feeding it just made the weight come off. And I’m actually smaller now than I was before I got pregnant.”

But as for the days when she looked like the picture above, they date back to early 2000 when she was out here singing classics like “Don’t Think I’m Not,” and before she was somebody’s mother.

Feel free to take a walk down memory lane and get inspired by these abs:
