You may have heard a rumor yesterday that singer and father-to-be Ray J was joining the ladies at the table at The Real. It all started because the 36-year-old posted an Instagram on Monday claiming that that he “got a new job” on the daytime talk show:

If you’ll recall, he was a guest late last month and he used the opportunity to reveal the news that he and wife Princess Love are expecting their first child. But he decided to take things a step further and make everyone (including major media) believe he was taking the spot formerly held by Tamar Braxton.

But the co-hosts set the record straight, particularly Loni Love.

“This past Monday we had Ray J co-host the show as our #MCM,” she said. “And during the show, Ray J campaigned hard to be the new permanent fifth member of girl chat. I checked with the executives and the producers and there’s no talk of hiring you, Ray J [laughs]. We love you!”

According to Adrienne Bailon, every time they would come back from a commercial break, Ray would say it’s “The Real with Ray J!” so I guess they weren’t kidding about that campaigning.

Tamera Mowry-Housley took his confusing Instagram post as a compliment that he would want to join the girls on the panel.

“Maybe this is his sweet way of saying he misses us?”

But Loni knew better.

“No, Ray J really want a job [laughs].”

Ray J has been one of many guest co-hosts that have been featured on the show since Braxton was let go in 2016. And while Ray J was charismatic, people seemed to have a preference for Eve (now with The Talk) and Monica Brown. But do you think that they should even fill Braxton’s seat or continue with guest hosts? Check out the ladies clearing the air on that Ray J rumor and let us know what you think:
