(Northwest Herald) — llinois lawmakers will try again to close a $13 billion budget hole, but local legislators are skeptical that the upcoming talks will have a positive outcome. Democratic legislative leaders said Thursday that they would call lawmakers back to Springfield next week in hopes of approving a spending plan by May 31. After that date new requirements kick in, and Republican votes would be required to pass any budget measure.
